Game of Thrones: Season 8 episode 5: Live review.

Two episodes to go. The last war is about to end. Now, given the, apparent, ending spoilers that came out this week, we take those with a pinch of salt for now. What will happen we do not know. Daenarys showed hints of her dad last week, will we see more of that this week. Will the so called treason of Vary’s come to fruition, and why did Grey Worms girl say Dracaris, sorry I struggle to spell her name.

Well it’s almost time to start, two to go, just hope the pacing is a little better.

Opening titles still starting from the wall, interesting almost like something should happen.

Vary’s with a nod back to Ned Stark, with true heir to the iron throne, maybe he gets killed like Ned did. His making some bold moves is Vary’s, not very like him to make them so boldly and in person I may say.

Daenarys, initial instinct is Jon has betrayed her, interesting. More hints that Daenarys is going down the route of madness, and not been able to trust anyone.

Grey Worm and a few unsullied collect Vary’s he definitely expected it. He dies by dragon fire, which is followed by Jon Snows reaction, even he is getting suspicious from the look of it. Is it me or is she turning into her brother.

The pacing feels a bit all over the place at the moment. It’s the only critic I have. The feel of how much time passes from one scene to another is different everytime. So you are not sure where it’s going next. It is like been at work and you think you worked an hour but you actually done 2-3 or you feel you done an hour but you done half that.

She is more ruthless, Tyrion tries to get her to come down after attacking Kings Landing, it ain’t happening. Then she threatens Tyrion after telling him that Jaime tried to cross into the city. If he fails again his dead basically.

Arya arrives at Kings Landings. Tyrion tries to speak the language of the unsullied. Fails miserably, lucky the unsullied speak English. But Tyrion is going to smuggle Jaime into the city with Davos’s help, let’s see how that goes. I hope Tyrion don’t die, but I get the feeling he will. I wonder how many people just had a little cry as Tyrion hugged his brother, very nice moment.

Here we go. Sunday night is now fight night. Everyone moving into the red keep. But not everyone’s got in. Jaime Lannister included, Arya and the Hound do.

Daenarys arrives on her dragon, so far no shots have hit her. The iron fleet is getting obliterated. Taking out the towers too that we saw in the last episode.

Daenarys pops up from behind the second sons, so much for them been a threat. The rest of the Dothraki go into sack the city mode from the look of it, killing anything that moves. The unsullied behind. It’s an annihilation.

Cersei gets the good news her armies except the Lannister have fallen. She think the red keep will save her.

Now the armies of Stark and Lannister meet face to face. The Lannisters surrender after hearing the dragon roar, Jon snow allows them to do so peacefully.

Jaime still heading for Cersei, as Daenarys hears the cries to ring the bells, the cal to surrender. The bells ring out, daenarys heads for the red keep.daenarys attack civilians, Grey work attacks the surrendered and it’s a free for all. Oh what have you done, this is heading one way and one way only now.

Jon pleads them to stop as he defends himself, I honestly don’t like where this is taking the ending, and it seems the spoilers that came out during the week maybe right.

Jon kills one of his own men to protect a woman as Daenarys burns the city. One of the towers get destroyed, followed by the rest of them it seems. The red keep getting picked apart.

Euron meet Jaime, a little mention of Euron banging Cersei, and off we go. Jaime gets stabbed in the chest. As Kyburn tells Cersei the keep has been penetrated.

Euron and Jaime trade more stabs. Eurons been more damaging, but even Jaime’s wounds are going to end up fatal I think. So Euron been cocky, says his the man to kill Jaime Lannister.

Arya arrives with the Hound. Who earns her that if she goes for Cersei, she will probably die. Cersei makes her escape the keep crumbling around them, and up steps the Hound, the Clegane fight is on the Mountain of ore orders from Cersei and Kyburn the later gets killed by the Mountain. His helmet is off, god his an ugly bastard.

Cersei now in the same room that the Hound left Arya. There Cersei and Jaime lock eyes and hug it out.

The Hound lays one in the chest it appears of the Mountain, and nothing it didn’t bother him. The Mountain pulls the sword out, oooooo nasty.

Arya trying to escape, but trips and looks to be getting flattened as the Hound gets a beating. Now his getting choked, he tries to stab the Mountain nothing, then the Mountain moves to crush his eyes like he did to Martell, but the Hound stab his face. Then a spear through the crumbling wall as the pair fall to their deaths it seems.

Jon sounds the fall back as the city crumbles more.

Arya still alive, she just escapes a tower falling on her. She tells a group of people to keep moving. But they don’t and she just escapes daenarys dragon attacking.

Cersei and Jaime try to escape but the passage out is blocked from fallen rubble.

I can’t tell if this is genuine from Cersei about the baby and everything, or part of a game. But it don’t matter anyway the tunnel collapses on top of them as the hug it out.

Where the hell that horse come from. Anyway Arya gets on it and makes he way.

That it’s for this week. One to go.

I honest don’t know how to take that, some good bits, some bits that have me worried for next week. Why, because next week needs to wrap everything up in a bow, and needs to be good. So I’m mixed. I liked how the Cleganes ended up, nice little bit, but I thought the way Cersei and Jaime have seemingly gone is a bit anti climaxing. Given how other vicious characters have died.

But we will see next week.
