Best known for it’s popular game Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft will be holding their E3 presentation at 7pm (UK time) on Monday 13th June.
So what can we expect to see from Ubisoft this year?
One thing that has been confirmed is there will be no Assassin’s Creed game, Ubisoft have decided to take a year out, which in my opinion is a good thing, milking the Assassin’s Creed franchise was becoming the norm, and a well earned break for the series is something that most people have been asking for.
South Park The Fractured But Whole, is likely to make an appearance once again this year at E3 (much like it did last year with the reveal trailer). This year we are expecting to see actual game play footage, maybe even a release date thrown in there. A special or deluxe edition of the game could also be announced, much like the one for Stick of Truth that included a mini figure of Cartman.
Watch Dogs 2 will almost certainly be shown at E3, in the last few days we have seen a trailer alongside a release date (15th November) for the sequel, Ubisoft are also pushing special editions early this time around, with a total of six different editions. I’m a fan of buying into a franchise if I like it, I’m also a fan of special editions (I have the special edition of Watch Dogs) however with 6 different editions this time around, I fear Ubisoft are making it crowded and confusing for consumers, there can be too much of a good thing! Watch Dogs 2, is looking to take the original Watch Dogs and make it a much better experience, something Ubisoft have done in the past (think Assassin’s Creed 1 and then 2). This game is one I’m personally looking forward to.
For Honor is another game that we saw at last years E3, but this year we are much more likely to see gameplay footage, find out more about the campaign and maybe even get a release date confirmed. This is a new title by Ubisoft, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out, and if they can manage to avoid mistakes they have made with past new titles. A new teaser was posted by Ubisoft with the words “the Vikings are coming” it’s more likely we will see For Honor gameplay at E3.
VR is so thing that a lot of game companies are working on, personally I think it’s a gimmick that I’m not willing to buy into. Maybe it will surprise me and take off well, or it could be around for a few years and end up being something that most people don’t bother with (think 3D).
Personal opinions aside Ubisoft have confirmed they are working on a virtual reality Star Trek game, the company have announced it will be called Star Trek: Bridge Crew, Ubisoft went further and confirmed on Twitter that they will showcase the game June 13th during an E3 presentation.
I’m expecting there to be some great titles announced from Ubisoft, in my personal opinion they hold some great presentations (last year bringing South Parks Trey Parker and Matt Stone on stage). They also announce some great games, For Honor, Far Cry, South Park, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, to name just a few.
This will be one E3 presentation I’m looking forward to,even if it’s just to see more details on Watch Dogs 2 and For Honor.
